First Strathclyde Cirrus Logic Engineering Scholars named

The inaugural Cirrus scholars at Strathclyde

Two second-year female engineering students have been named as Cirrus Merit Scholarship students for 2024/25.

The Electronic and Electrical Engineering Department鈥檚 Merit Scholarships Panel has appointed Katie Wright and Maisara Fatima Abdul Maleque as the first scholars of the inaugural programme set up with semiconductor company Cirrus Logic.

Academic excellence

The aim is to increase the number of women completing engineering degrees, and the two merit scholarships will provide financial support for up to four years for second-year female engineering students who are passionate about STEM and demonstrate academic excellence.

The recipients will also have exclusive internship opportunities with Cirrus Logic for real-world engineering experience and mentorship by engineers.

Maisara said: 鈥淏eing awarded the Cirrus logic scholarship and being supported as a woman in engineering is a great source of motivation."

Katie said: 鈥淚鈥檓 delighted to have been awarded this scholarship and hope it encourages more women and girls into STEM.鈥
