Personal statement

Catriona Paisey joined the ÌÇÐÄÊÓƵ as a part-time (30%) Professor of Accounting in October 2022. Prior to joining Strathclyde Business School, Catriona held professorships at the University of Glasgow, the University of Stirling and Glasgow Caledonian University. Catriona’s research is mainly qualitative and focuses on the accountancy profession and the making of the accounting professional, with current projects in professional ethics, social mobility, continuing professional development, accounting history, and educational development. She has published in a wide range of journals including Accounting, Auditing and Accountability Journal, Accounting and Business Research, Accounting Education, Accounting Forum, British Accounting Review, Critical Perspectives on Accounting and Studies in Higher Education. She authored an impact case on the restoration of public trust in the accountancy profession that was submitted to REF 2021. Also in 2021, she was awarded the British Accounting and Finance Association Outstanding Contribution to Accounting and Finance Education Award. Catriona is a chartered accountant and has served on the Council, Ethics Board, Qualifications Board, TPE Examination Board and Academic Panel of ICAS, The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland.
