Personal statement
Robert Martin is Professor of Nanoscience at Strathclyde鈥檚 Physics Department, having served as Head of Department (2010-2014) and Vice-Dean (Research) for the Faculty of Science (2014-2020). He has worked extensively in semiconductor physics and in the application of optical and electron-beam spectroscopies and imaging, having co-authored over 325 refereed publications and three patents. His current interests focus on group III nitride semiconductors (GaN, AlGaN, etc.), gallium oxide and its alloys, and photovoltaic materials. Prior to coming to Strathclyde in 1993, he worked on InGaAsP-based electroabsorption modulators and on magnetotransport in Sb-based semiconductors at Oxford University. In 2008, he spent 6 months at the Centre de Recherche sur l'H茅t茅ro-Epitaxie et ses Applications (CRHEA) CNRS laboratory in Valbonne, France working on AlInN materials and GaN-based microcavities.
