Personal statement

Kieren is a Senior Research Fellow within the Digital Health and Wellness team at the ÌÇÐÄÊÓƵ. He also holds roles with the Future Hospital initiative at the University and is a co-lead for the Strathclyde Living lab. Kieren is looking to build both national and international networks that can create inclusive ‘future hospitals’, where digital, people and systems work together optimsing health and wellness for all.  More specifically, Kieren has a long standing interest in the areas of informal (unpaid) carers and those facing cognitive decline and neurodegenerative conditions.

He is an experienced researcher having worked across many related fields such as: clinical study designs, epidemiology, digital health and the development and implementation of innovations to impact upon healthcare. He has worked with, and alongside the World Health Organization in Geneva, where his role was focused on the design of an Internet-based intervention to educate and empower informal carers of people with dementia (https://www.isupportfordementia.org/en). He has published 40 peer review articles (including those in press) to date and currently supervises 5 PhD students. He holds a facilitating group member role within the Royal Society of Edinburgh ‘Young Academy of Scotland’ alongside an Honorary Research Fellowship with NHS Lanarkshire.
