- The purpose of this research project is to explore how primary school teachers develop their writing pedagogy through taking part in creative writing with professional authors. The study takes place within the context of a professional learning programme led by the Scottish Book Trust, which provides teachers with opportunities to collaborate with authors of children's literature, with a view to making creative writing more meaningful for teachers and for the children they teach. Knowing that literacy is a key factor in children’s life chances, and with creative writing viewed as an act of subjectification through which individuals might be permitted to impose their definition of the world on the world, the value of the project is in revealing how teachers’ accounts of collaborating with authors during the process of creative writing might be interpreted thoughtfully enough to become a model of transformative pedagogical practice.
